Early-career radio copy for emerging consumer technology
Radio advertising for Sharp’s Fontwriter, written early in my career and voiced by Mark Radcliffe.
Created in 1997, these ads promoted the Sharp Fontwriter — a hybrid between a typewriter and an early laptop — aimed squarely at students before laptops became mainstream. Using Mark Radcliffe’s distinctive, trusted radio presence, the scripts leaned into humour and cultural relevance to make an unfamiliar piece of technology feel accessible and desirable.
This project was one of my first professional advertising commissions and marked the start of my career as a copywriter, with a focus on writing for audio and crafting memorable scripts within tight, product-led constraints.
